What kind of treatment can I expect?

General dermatology treatments can vary widely based on the problem, the intensity of the issue, and other things unique to your situation. Dr. Skaggs can treat most dermatological conditions with topical or oral medication, minimally invasive procedures, and customized lifestyle advice.

If you need surgery, as in the case of skin cancer,  Dr. Skaggs can treat it with minimally invasive Mohs surgery, traditional excision, cryosurgery, or other treatments tailored to the situation. Dr. Skaggs and the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center team are here for all your general dermatology needs.

How can I prepare for my general dermatology appointment?

When you make your appointment at the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center, one of the friendly team members will advise you regarding specific preparation. If you’re having a procedure, whether it’s Mohs surgery, a cosmetic dermatology procedure, or something else, you might need to make a few changes before the appointment, such as discontinuing certain medications.

If you’re having a problem evaluated, for example, a new mole, you can prepare by compiling as much information as possible about your issue. Make notes about when the problem first appeared, any recent changes, and whether there seems to be a pattern to the problem.  If you’re having a skin problem that occurs in cycles, which often happens with conditions like psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema, you might not have an obvious problem at the time of your appointment.

But, you can explain the problem to Dr. Skaggs in detail so he can make an accurate diagnosis. If possible, take photos of your skin problem as well, in case it isn’t active at the time of your visit.
